Bundesliga in Spanish: Telemundo, Universo and Peacock Coverage Explained

The Spanish-language Bundesliga package in the United States is, by a clear margin, the more complete of the league's two new deals. It puts more than 100 matches a season on broadcast and cable television, and — uniquely — carries every single match on one streaming service.

If you want the whole season in one place, this is the answer, whether or not Spanish is your first language.

The deal

NBCUniversal's Telemundo holds exclusive Spanish-language US rights to the Bundesliga under a three-year agreement worth roughly $10 million a season, beginning with 2026-27.

The structure:

PlatformCoverageHow to get it
TelemundoPart of a 100+ match linear slateFree over the air with an antenna
UniversoThe rest of that linear slateCable or live TV streaming
PeacockEvery match, all seasonPremium tier, $12.99/month

Telemundo executives highlighted the scheduling flexibility this gives them — the ability to move a fixture between Telemundo and Universo depending on the window, with everything landing on Peacock regardless.

Why this beats the English-language package

The English rights went to Versant's USA Sports in a five-year, roughly $100 million deal. That package puts a minimum of 30 matches on USA Network and streams the remaining 270 to 275 free on Fandango.

Free is excellent. But the English side has no single service carrying the full season, and the linear exposure is a third of what the Spanish side gets.

This inversion drew comment when the deals were announced. Under ESPN, which held combined English and Spanish rights for six seasons at around $30 million a year, most matches sat behind the ESPN+ paywall with minimal linear exposure in either language. The new structure gives Spanish-speaking viewers substantially more television and the only complete single-service option.

Telemundo: free over the air

Telemundo is a broadcast network. That means its matches transmit for free to anyone with an antenna — no subscription, no account, no monthly bill.

Cost: $30 to $50 for an indoor antenna, one time.

The same antenna brings ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, Univision, and PBS with it, which is a meaningful amount of additional sport and news for a single purchase. Check a coverage map for your address before buying: reception depends far more on distance from the transmitter and on terrain than on antenna price, and an attic or roof mount substantially outperforms a window unit in fringe areas.

Universo is a cable channel and cannot be received over the air. It requires a pay-TV or live TV streaming subscription.

Peacock: every match, one app

This is the standout. Peacock carries the complete Bundesliga season in Spanish — all 306 league matches, including the fixtures that air on USA Network in English.

Following the August 18, 2026 price increase, Peacock costs:

PlanMonthlyAnnualLive sports
Select$8.99$89.99Limited
Premium$12.99$129.99Yes
Premium Plus$19.99$199.99Yes, plus ad-free on demand

Premium is the tier you need. Existing subscribers moved to the new pricing on their first billing date on or after September 17, 2026.

At $129.99 for a full season, the per-match cost across 306 matches is roughly 42 cents — before counting Premier League coverage, NBC's NBA package, and the rest of Peacock's sports catalog. As a way to watch a complete top-five European league, nothing else in the American market is close.

Peacock is also bundled into some home internet and mobile phone plans. Check your provider's perks page before subscribing — streaming inclusions have become a standard retention tool, and paying twice for the same service is a common and avoidable mistake.

Getting Universo without cable

YouTube TV$82.99Yes
Hulu + Live TV$89.99Yes
FuboVariesRestored in June 2026 after a carriage dispute
DirecTVFrom $34.99Check package tier

Fubo lost NBCUniversal's channels in a December 2025 carriage dispute. A new agreement on June 10, 2026 restored Telemundo and Universo, though USA Network had not returned as of mid-2026 reporting.

Given that Peacock Premium carries every match for $12.99, a live TV package purchased solely for Universo is difficult to justify.

Season dates and kickoff times

The 2026-27 season runs August 28, 2026 to May 22, 2027, with a winter break from December 18-20 to January 8. It started about a week later than usual because of the 2026 World Cup.

Bandwidth

Peacock streams over your broadband. Plan on 10-15 Mbps for stable HD and 25 Mbps or more for best quality with other devices active. Wired Ethernet to your primary streaming device removes most buffering complaints, and if your internet plan has not been reviewed in a few years, comparing current fiber and fixed-wireless tiers for your address is generally worth more than new hardware.

Frequently asked questions

Who has Spanish-language Bundesliga rights in the US? NBCUniversal's Telemundo, under a three-year deal beginning in 2026-27.

How many matches are on Telemundo and Universo? More than 100 per season, combined.

Does Peacock have every Bundesliga match? Yes — all matches, in Spanish, on the Premium tier.

How much is Peacock Premium? $12.99 a month or $129.99 a year after the August 2026 increase.

Is Telemundo free? Yes, over the air with an antenna. Universo requires a pay-TV subscription.

Can I watch in English on Peacock? No. English coverage runs through Fandango (free) and USA Network.

Is this better than the English package? For completeness, yes — Peacock is the only single service with every match. For cost, Fandango's free English coverage is hard to beat.

Bottom line

Peacock Premium at $129.99 a year is the only way to watch every Bundesliga match on one service in the United States, and a $35 antenna adds Telemundo's linear slate for nothing. Even for viewers who prefer English commentary, the Spanish package is worth understanding — it is the more complete of the two.
