How to Watch NASCAR Without Cable in 2026
NASCAR's Cup Series season is divided into four consecutive blocks, each belonging to a different broadcaster. That structure is unusual, but it is also predictable — you know months in advance which service you need in June versus October, which makes it easier to subscribe only when you have to.
The 2026 season is year two of NASCAR's seven-year media rights agreement.
The season, block by block
| Block | Dates | Where | Races |
|---|---|---|---|
| FOX / FS1 | Feb 4 – May 17 | FOX, FS1, Fox One | 14 |
| Amazon Prime Video | May 24 – June 21 | Prime Video | 5 |
| TNT Sports | June 28 – July 26 | TNT, HBO Max | 5 |
| NBC / USA | Aug 9 – Nov 8 | NBC, USA Network, Peacock | 14 |
The FOX block includes the Clash, the Daytona 500 on February 15, and the All-Star Race on May 17 at Dover. The NBC block runs the entire playoff stretch, with 4 races on NBC and 10 on USA Network, closing with the championship finale at Homestead-Miami on November 8 on NBC and Peacock.
The O'Reilly Auto Parts Series (formerly Xfinity) airs on The CW, which is free over the air.
What each block costs
| Service | Monthly | Annual | Which races |
|---|---|---|---|
| Antenna | ~$35 once | — | FOX and NBC races, plus The CW's support series — free |
| Fox One | $19.99 | $199.99 | FOX and FS1 races, Feb–May |
| Amazon Prime | $14.99 | $139 | 5 races, late May–June — included with Prime |
| HBO Max Standard | $18.49 | — | 5 TNT races, late June–July |
| Peacock Premium | $12.99 | $129.99 | NBC and USA races, Aug–Nov |
| Sling TV | From ~$45.99 | — | FS1, USA and TNT in one package |
| YouTube TV | $82.99 | — | All four blocks in one subscription |
| Hulu + Live TV | $89.99 | — | Same |
| DirecTV Stream | $84.99–$171.98 | — | Same, most comprehensive |
Important detail on HBO Max: the ad-supported Basic plan at $10.99 does not include live sports. TNT's five races require Standard ($18.49) or Premium ($22.99). Note also that Fubo does not carry TNT, which makes it the wrong choice for the summer block.
The subscribe-and-cancel strategy
Because the blocks are consecutive rather than overlapping, you never need all four services at once. A disciplined fan can follow the entire season this way:
| Months | What you pay for | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Feb–May | Antenna covers FOX races; Fox One for FS1 races | $19.99 × 4 = ~$80 |
| Late May–June | Amazon Prime | $14.99 |
| Late June–July | HBO Max Standard | $18.49 × 2 = ~$37 |
| Aug–Nov | Peacock Premium; antenna covers NBC races | $12.99 × 4 = ~$52 |
| Full season | ~$185 plus a $35 antenna |
Compare that to roughly $1,000 a year for a full live TV package. The trade-off is remembering to cancel — set calendar reminders on the block transition dates, and check your card statement for services you meant to drop.
If managing four subscriptions sounds worse than the savings are worth, YouTube TV at $82.99 a month covers every block with nothing to cancel.
The free options
FOX, NBC and The CW are broadcast networks, so a $20 to $60 indoor antenna delivers the Daytona 500, the All-Star Race, four playoff races including the championship finale, and the entire O'Reilly Auto Parts Series at no recurring cost. That is a genuinely large share of the season.
Check a coverage map for your address before buying. Reception depends on terrain and distance from the transmitter far more than on antenna price, and an attic or roof mount substantially outperforms a window unit in weaker signal areas.
The NASCAR Channel streams free on Prime Video, Roku, Samsung TV Plus, Tubi and Xumo — a 24/7 ad-supported channel with archive races, documentaries and analysis. It does not carry live Cup Series races, but it is a free companion to the season.
Streaming apps worth knowing
Each broadcaster has its own app, and authenticated pay-TV subscribers can often use them at no extra cost: the FOX Sports App, the NBC Sports App, Peacock, and FloRacing for grassroots and regional racing. TNT's in-car camera feeds have streamed on HBO Max alongside the main broadcast.
Before subscribing to anything, check your mobile carrier and internet provider's perks page. Verizon myPlan and myHome customers have been offered Fox One at $15 a month rather than $19.99, and Peacock and Prime Video are both commonly bundled into wireless and broadband plans.
Bandwidth
Motorsport is demanding on a stream — constant high-speed motion and fine detail across the whole frame make compression artifacts obvious in a way they are not in slower sports.
| Use | Recommended throughput |
|---|---|
| One HD race | 10–15 Mbps |
| One 4K race | 25 Mbps or more |
| Race plus a second stream in the house | 50 Mbps or more |
Wired Ethernet to your primary streaming device is the most effective single fix for the stuttering people usually blame on the app. If your internet plan has not been reviewed in a few years, comparing current fiber and fixed-wireless tiers for your address is generally worth more than new hardware.
Frequently asked questions
Can I watch NASCAR without cable? Yes. FOX, NBC and The CW races are free over an antenna, and the other blocks stream on Prime Video, HBO Max, Fox One and Peacock.
Where is the Daytona 500? FOX, on February 15 — free over an antenna.
Where is the championship race? NBC and Peacock, at Homestead-Miami on November 8.
How many races does Amazon Prime have? Five, from late May to late June, included with a Prime membership.
Which service has the TNT races? HBO Max, on the Standard or Premium tier — the ad-supported Basic plan excludes live sports.
Does Fubo work for NASCAR? Only partially. Fubo does not carry TNT, so the five summer races are missing.
What is the cheapest way to see the whole season? Subscribing to each block's service in turn, roughly $185 a year plus an antenna. YouTube TV at $82.99 a month is the no-hassle alternative.
Is the NASCAR Channel free? Yes, on Prime Video, Roku, Samsung TV Plus, Tubi and Xumo — but it does not carry live Cup races.
Bottom line
Buy an antenna first: it delivers the Daytona 500, the All-Star Race and the championship finale free. Then either rotate through Fox One, Prime, HBO Max and Peacock as the calendar moves — about $185 for the season — or take one live TV package and stop thinking about it.
